First Day of School

The first day of school went so well for the girls. I worried and worried all summer... and now feel a great sense of peace knowing that they are both fine and happy at school right now. The highlight of my morning was when as we were taking pictures on the front porch, Anna said, "I can actually say I am excited for school, mom." A definite answer to prayer for her mother. I gave her a big hug and said, "Oh, thank you, Anna." I haven't worried about her as much today as I thought I would because I know she was excited!! We got to school early and took some more pictures and then found Emily's teacher outside with her orange circle sign. She hopped right in line. Anna stood next to me not sure what to do. Just when I was about to tell her to go on in, the principal came over, who I have gotten to know quite well the last few weeks. I have been sharing Anna's anxieties with him so he came right over and told her that he was headed into the building and wanted to know if she would like to come with him. In Waukee, once kids hit third grade, they aren't met outside by their teachers, the first week, so I knew getting her in the building alone might be an issue. She looked at me, gave me one last hug, and off she went with Mr. Barry. I'm sure they are both having a great time right now. I can't wait to pick them up and hear all about it.
Jake and I headed to Panera after drop off and met some Brookview moms for some coffee. Then it was off to a neighborhood gathering of moms for mimosas and muffins. I feel like the morning went really fast. I'm so excited to pick them up and hear all about their day!!! It is crazy to think that at this time next year I will have three kids in school!!!! Where has the time gone?

How can it be possible that she is already in third grade!!!
