2011 Christmas Letter

The highlight of 2011 was the arrival of Molly Elizabeth on May 24, 2011. She has been such a wonderful addition to our family. She is now six months old and is sitting well, sleeping well, and like all our kids, eating well! When the jar of peaches is gone she screams!!! She loves her sisters and brother. Each day she smiles as they get in the car after school. Being the fourth child means she lives in the car seat and is happiest when she is being carried around in the Baby Bjorn. She loves to be close to her mommy at all times!

Jacob is six and started Kindergarten this Fall. He is loving school and is making many new friends. He played soccer this fall and recently started playing basketball. His true love is still Legos. We have quite a village going in our basement from all his creations. We had a very scary moment this past winter when Jacob ate a cookie with peanuts at the grocery store. After a trip to the ER we were once again reminded that his allergies are very severe. Sending him to Kindergarten was a bit nerve-wracking for Scott and myself but they do a great job keeping him safe at school. He recently started weekly allergy shots and is counting the week until they are done. I keep reminding his that he will be in second grade when he is done with shots!

Emily is seven and in second grade. She is the best big sister in the world and can’t wait until Molly is old enough so she can share a room with her. She thanks me at least once a week for giving her the best gift in the world... a little sister! Emily continues to love school and is having a great year in second grade. She is involved in gymnastics, Girl Scouts and swimming. This past fall, Emily broke her wrist when she tripped over a scooter in the garage. It took us five days before we finally took her to the doctor. She is one tough cookie!! Of all our kids, Emily is the most sensitive and caring. She is always thinking of others before thinking of herself.

Anna is nine and in fourth grade. Thankfully she has had no broken bones this year. Five broken arms was plenty for her!! She is loving school this year and has made some great friends in her class. She is involved in swimming and gymnastics. It look a lot of convincing for me to let her do gymnastics again but her coach is very good and is making sure she is safe in the gym. She had a great swim season this past year and qualified for state and regionals in many of her events. She moved up an age group this year and isn’t liking being the “young one” very much. She is a GREAT helper and I don’t think I could have gotten through this summer without her!!

Scott and I are adjusting well to life with four kids. Scott mentions regularly that he feels blessed to get to watch Molly grow up. When the older three were babies he was in residency and worked ALL THE TIME!! He doesn’t remember much about the baby years with Anna, Emily and Jake. We learned quickly that babies are a TON of work, but we wouldn’t trade it for the world. We do feel now that our family is complete. (Cross your fingers on that one...) God gave us Molly for a reason and we can’t wait imagine our life without her contagious smiles. We feel blessed to have such amazing children, parents and friends!

We wish you all a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year.
