We have had a busy twenty-four hours. Last night the girls got to meet their teacher!!! They were very nervous since everything this year is new to them. New school... new teachers... new principal... new EVERYTHING!!!! Emily has been handling the idea of a new school much better than Anna. I have been at the school quite a bit this last week helping with some PTO stuff so the girls have some familiarity with the school by now, but meeting their teachers and seeing their new classmates was a BIG deal last night. We first went to Emily's room and she was so excited to see that she had a REAL desk that can open and close. We loaded her supplies in her desk and had a quick discussion about the need to keep everything organized. I'll be amazed if she can keep her desk organized. God gave me one VERY organized child and it is NOT Emily!!! She has a locker that she will share with a classmate so she was excited about seeing the locker as well. After we said our hellos to her teacher (who I already know we are going to love) and a few former classmates from Brookview, we were off to Anna's room. Her teacher is very sweet and instantly made Anna feel welcome. I could tell she was VERY nervous. In her three years at Brookview she has made many close friends. Some of her friends she has know since preschool. She has been in denial all summer that she was moving schools. Well... no more denying it when we had to load her supplies into her new desk. There is nothing worse than seeing your child sad. We sat and put supplies into her desk while other girls ran in and hugged and were so excited to be together. I could tell Anna was anxious and just wanted to get the supplies put away, say hello to her teacher, and get out of the school. I pray that tomorrow goes well for her. I know she'll make friends. I know she'll be happy sooner or later. I know that she is going to love her teacher. I know that she will learn a lot. I know that she will eventually love this beautiful school. I also know that tomorrow is going to be a VERY long day for her mother as I sit and worry about her!!! My mom always told me when I was little that being a mom wasn't easy. I now know she was right!!!
The new school!!!!!
