Emily's Award

Emily spent the first year of her life crying... LITERALLY... it felt like she cried for a year straight!!!  She was an EASY toddler and has grown into a sweet young lady.  When she was a toddler and most kids were yelling and fighting over toys... she was the first to give her toy up to someone crying to make them happy.  She still does that to this day.  She always wants "peace" and cries when she sees other people sad.
A few years back on the "streets" of Chicago she saw her first ever "homeless" person asking for money.  (That certainly isn't something we see every day in Des Moines)  She asked why they were asking for money and I tried to explain as best I could why they needed money.  That was about it... until we got to the next store and I looked down and she was SOBBING!!!  She has such a good heart!!!  My dad (even with his Republican views)... gave her some money and we went back and gave it to the man on the street.
The other day she came home from school with this award.  Her classmates voted on who the most courteous was in her class to go along with their PBIS behavior system.  She won!!  Not surprising to me and she honestly didn't even tell me about it until I found it in her bag.
She is truly one of the sweetest people you will meet.  (Most of the time...)
Congrats Emily!!!  We love you OODLES!!!
