Emily had her second swim meet yesterday. She was determined to swim three events so that she could get three ribbons. I'm happy to say, SHE DID IT!!! Her first event was the free relay. Our swim team is so big that they randomly place the kids in relays and luckily she got on a relay with her two buddies, Cassie and Madeline. They swam SOOO well and got first place. I truly have never seen Emily so happy. The Carlson kids came to watch their friends swim so it was extra special for Emily and Madeline to win a blue ribbon in front of her friends. She swam freestyle next and did a great job. Then came the backstoke. She had been practicing it with her swim lessons teacher and I knew she was capable of doing it but I wasn't sure she had the confidence. HOLY COW!!! She proved us all wrong. She improved her time that she had done in a "practice meet" two weeks prior by 20 seconds!!! I couldn't believe it! She got out of the pool and said, "I'm never doing that again. That was way too hard!!" So... we will see what next week brings. But, we were very proud of her. It was fun to see her feel successfull and again since Anna has a broken arm, all our attention was on Emily, which was so great for her!!! Way to go, Emily. We are so proud of you!!
